Families Support Transition to Employment

Families are an important factor in helping a young adult with disabilities become successfully employed. The Region 6 Rehabilitation Continuing Education Program (RCEP) reports the results of their yearlong study into this process in In the Achievement of A Successful Employment Outcome. This report contains information for rehabilitation professionals as well as the family. The roles of people involved in transition are spelled out - including the young adult with disabilities, the family and the Vocational Rehabilitation counselor. It also includes training materials and tools to help families become actively involved in the process.

In the Achievement of A Successful Employment Outcome is available online at the PACER site, www.pacer.org/tatra/critpart.htm, in PDF or html format.
