Understanding and Supporting Paraeducators

Years ago, paraeducators usually performed clerical tasks that required little special training. That is not true today. Today, paraeducators provide an increasing amount of instructional and learning support for students with disabilities. The latest issue of Research Connections in Special Education, published by the ERIC/OSEP Special Project, addresses these changes and reviews research relating to enhancing paraeducator's knowledge and impact. Paraeducators Providing Support to Students with Disabilities and Their Teachers is available online at http://ericec.org/osep/recon12/rc12cov.html.
