Early Intervention Works
According to the Department of Education's 24th annual report to Congress, To Assure the Free Appropriate Public Education of All Children with Disabilities, children with disabilities are helped by early intervention services. After one year of early intervention services significant percentages of the children had reached milestones in areas of motor skills, self-help, communication and cognition. According to Robert Pasternack, Assistant Secretary, Office of Special Education and Rehabilitation Services in the Department of Education, "This is yet another confirmation that the earlier we identify children with disabilities and provide highly effective evidence-based interventions, the better chance they have of reaching their full potential."
