First Topics for the What Works Clearinghouse
The What Works Clearinghouse (WWC) has selected the topic areas for investigation during their first year. The WWC is addressing the need for accurate reviews of scientific evidence regarding differing educational interventions.
The following seven topic areas are the subjects of the first WWC Evidence Reports:
- Beginning Reading for students in grades K - 3
- K-12 Math Goals and Instruction for Achievement- to include three Evidence Reports; one each for elementary school, middle school, high school
- Preventing High School Dropout
- Programs for Increasing Adult Literacy
- Peer-Assisted Learning in Elementary Schools: Reading, Mathematics, and Science Gains
- Interventions To Reduce Delinquent, Disorderly, and Violent Behavior in and out of School
- Interventions for Elementary School English Language Learners: Increasing English Language Acquisition and Academic Achievement
The WWC is collecting references for studies of intervention in the seven topic areas, as well as suggestions for specific programs, practices, products and policies to include in their review.
The WWC is also accepting nominations for topics for review in the future.
