Core Partners
The eleven core partners represent over 1,500 groups at the local level and thousands of families and advocates.
All core partners participate in information dissemination, technical assistance, and outreach activities regarding IDEA.
- Academy for Educational Development (AED)
Reaches over 80,000 parents and advocates annually. Includes
- The Center for Law and Education (CLE)
A national advocacy organization dedicated to improving the quality of education for all children and youth, in particular those from low income families. The Center has three national projects, and provides assistance to 51 member offices of the National Association of Protection and Advocacy Systems (NAPAS). CLE has over 8,000 individuals on its mailing list.
- Family Voices
A grassroots national network speaking on behalf of the 12.6 million children with special health care needs in the U.S. It assists many parents of young children with disabilities, reaching 25,000 parents and advocates annually.
- Federation of Families for Children's Mental Health (FFCMH)
A national parent-run organization for families of children with emotional, behavioral, or mental disorders. FFCMH has a network of over 100 chapters and groups in every state and Puerto Rico reaching 15,000 families worldwide.
- National Association for Parents of Children with Visual Impairments (NAPVI)
Members in every state serving as a resource to families of children with vision impairment. NAPVI receives over 7,000 annual calls.
- National Coalition for Parent Involvement in Education (NCPIE)
A coalition of over 70 national organizations that have been working together to foster family, school, and community partnership. NCPIE represents the leaders in regular education and has the potential to disseminate information to 3 million people.
- National Council on Independent Living (NCIL)
Provides information and assistance to more than 450 Centers for Independent Living in every state and reaches thousands of self-advocates and families.
- National Down Syndrome Congress (NDSC)
A national advocacy organization for people with Down syndrome. NDSC has 600 parent groups in all 50 states and over 10,000 members.
- National Fiesta Educativa
Assists Latino and Spanish-speaking families in urban and rural areas. It reaches over 7,000 families each year, bringing information and hope to monolingual and bilingual families from the Latino community throughout California and the nation.
- National Indian Child Welfare Association (NICWA)
Assists American Indian families on reservations and throughout the country. Members include families, tribes, individuals, family services, and Indian child welfare programs. NICWA provides information on policies and legislation, training, and technical assistance to all tribes including information regarding schools and IDEA.
- ALLIANCE for Parent Centers, National Technical Assistance Center
The National Technical Assistance Center ALLIANCE for Parent Centers (also known as the ALLIANCE), is a PACER program that coordinates technical assistance delivery to all 100 federally funded parent training ad information centers in the U.S. The parent centers serve families of children of all disabilities and ages.
The nation is divided into six regions; each area being served through the ALLIANCE by a regional technical assistance center.
