Helping Parents and Advocates Improve
Educational Results for Children with Disabilities
IDEA has procedures in place to allow any member of the child's IEP team to bring a problem to the attention of team members.
The student's parents are given rights and protections called procedural safeguards. These rights allow the parents the ability to question decisions made by the school regarding their child's education.
When disputes arise, IDEA favors solving the problem by both parties through a process called mediation.
