Educational Results for Children with Disabilities
On Nov. 19, 2004, the U.S. House and Senate passed the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). The bill now goes to the president for his signature before it becomes law. The president is expected to sign the bill. After becoming law, the next step is the rulemaking process which may begin in the near future.
The IDEA affects 6.7 million children with disabilities in public schools across the nation. We are still reviewing the bill and expect to have an analysis available in the near future.
The complete bill is posted below.
